The Fever

You've all heard of young girls getting "horse fever" but when an adult gets on a Peruvian Paso horse for the first time, there's a new kind of fever brewing.

Just to give you a little background, Thunder Valley Peruvians   is a joint venture between a mother and daughter (with the help of a very patient husband!). Both Pat and I have been riding since our respective ages of 6 years. We have been member of Girls Mounted Troops and have been ridden and shown successfully in the English style most of our lives. However, life being what it is and health being an uncertain thing...both Pat and I incurred back injuries that had made it difficult to continue riding the long meandering trails for any great length of time. After we lost our last two trotting horses, we went searching for the REALLY SMOOTH horses!

We tried everything...including Arabs, Thoroughbreads, Quarter Horses, Appaloosas, Tennessee Walkers, Saddlebreads, and finally a Peruvian Paso Horse! We had no prior knowledge of the breed and couldn't believe how smooth riding he was! We were also inpressed with the remarkably comfortable hand tooled saddles! We took our first gelding home. This is when the "fever" started. Within the first month we got to know other Peruvian Paso owners and breeders and went to our first show as observers. When we were asked if we wanted to ride one of the horses in the class as a participant, we got our first Peruvian Paso ribbon and the "fever" flared...we were hooked! We bought our second gelding shortly thereafter for Pat (who is the senior member of the NEPHC at 70+ and is still actively showing her National Reserve Luxury gelding). We have become active with the various shows, the club, and continue to be impressed with the people associates with this special breed.

To cut a not-so-long story shorter, we have gotten involved in breeding this unique breed of horse and currently own a handsome stallion, two terrific geldings, two young mares. We are very excited about the new life we have found, and although we strive to keep our
"fever" in check...our ever increasing numbers show we have gone with our enthusiasms!  Our goal continues to be a part of creating the horse with the smoothest ride so we can all GAIT TO THE FUTURE  into our twilight years!

We welcome anyone to call or come visit...but be careful...
you could catch
"the fever"!

Himalayan cats also raised "underfoot". Please feel free to email us if you have questions about this beautiful and talented breed of horse OR cat!
